16 November METS sector primed to capitalise on export potential with the release of the Regional Export Strategy November 16, 2021 By Admin RIN General 0 The Mackay, Isaac, Whitsunday (MIW) METS SME Export Hub, as part of Resource Industry Network, has released its Regional Export Strategy identifying key international markets and positioning the region’s METS sector to capitalise on untapped export potential. The Regional Export Strategy is one of the key milestones in the Export Hub’s journey and outlines a vision for the MIW METS sector, highlights regional METS capability, provides an overview of market research analysis, showcases the opportunities in key international markets, and lists strategies and an action plan. Chile, Indonesia, and Canada have all been identified as key export markets with the Regional Export Strategy listing recommendations for optimising the MIW region’s capability and capacity to supply to these markets. MIW METS SME Export Hub manager Dean Kirkwood said the launch of the Regional Export Strategy laid the foundation for export success for any of the region’s METS businesses who made the decision to diversify into the export space. “By identifying key markets, strengths, weaknesses, and barriers, and developing strategies and actions that create the platform for success, we are well positioned to support the development of a successful export market for our industry sector. “At the same time, it enables the sector to continue to evolve, diversify, remain relevant, and increase the innovation we are famous for,” he said. “The fact that this region is already a respected leader in the supply of quality METS products and services puts us on the front foot. “But the benefits of a successful export hub to our region will also be enormous, so I’d encourage all businesses in the mining equipment and technology services (METS) sector to learn more about the export space, sign up to do one of our heavily subsidised Export Ready Courses, and set their businesses up for success now,” Mr Kirkwood added. The Regional Export Strategy can be viewed HERE. The MIW METS Export Hub was established last year as a result of funding from the Australian Government, Queensland Government, and the Local Buying Foundation, and is tasked with identifying, establishing and driving opportunities in the export space for businesses in the MIW region.
