14 April Innovative METS businesses sought for Virtual Reality Showcase at QME April 14, 2022 By Admin RIN General 0 It’s the signature mining event everyone’s been waiting for and innovative METS businesses in the Greater Whitsundays have the opportunity to join a collaborative showcase stand never seen before at the Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition (QME). QME is one of Australia’s largest mining events and will take place in Mackay from July 19-22 at the Mackay Showgrounds. The Greater Whitsunday Virtual Reality (VR) Showcase Lounge will comprise the best of the region’s METS businesses providing QME delegates with an engaging journey through our world-class capabilities and innovation using immersive technology. Supporting partners of the Greater Whitsunday VR Showcase Lounge are now seeking Expressions of Interest from the region’s businesses who possess an innovative or technology focused product or service, to participate in the showcase stand. Resource Industry Network general manager Dean Kirkwood said the Greater Whitsunday VR Showcase Lounge was not only an exceptional way for local METS businesses to have a big presence at QME, but also a cost-effective one. “We are looking for a range of innovative businesses to participate in our VR showcase experience where QME delegates will be virtually transported to your workshop or worksite and see your product in action in a fully immersive experience. “Supporting partners including Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday Regional Council, the Queensland Government, Greater Whitsunday Alliance, Resources Centre of Excellence, and Resource Industry Network have secured a 72sqm site at QME and are decking it out to offer a full technology experience for QME attendees. “Our region’s METS sector is the best of the best, and this is an ideal opportunity for businesses to get in front of the mining sector leaders in a dynamic and engaging way,” Mr Kirkwood said. Resources Centre of Excellence CEO Steven Boxall said QME was the premium resources event in Queensland and the Greater Whitsunday VR Showcase Lounge was a great way for small and medium businesses to become involved. “We know our region has expert skills in underground mining; advanced manufacturing; conveyors; bulk material handling and environmental sustainability and we want to showcase these capabilities to approximately 5000 visitors expected at QME in person in 2022,” Mr Boxall said.
