14 June RIN welcomes BHP announcement on reduced payment terms for small business June 14, 2021 By Admin RIN General 0 Resource Industry Network has welcomed the announcement that BHP will continue its reduced its payment terms for small, local and indigenous businesses as part of a program to support its communities and regional economies during the Covid-19 pandemic. RIN general manager Dean Kirkwood says that since implementing the reduced payment terms at the start of the pandemic, BHP has recognised how this has positively impacted small business in the regions. "The decision to reduce payment terms for these businesses means they can operate with more confidence and support our critical resources sector, as a valued member of the mining supply chain. "Anything that supports small businesses in our sector to thrive and potentially grow, is always welcomed and we applaud BHP on this announcement, which will benefit many businesses in our region," he said. Resource Industry Network led the way on the impacts of extended payment terms discussion back in 2018 after commissioning a report and campaign that led to a parliamentary senate inquiry around the issue. The campaign resulted in positive outcomes for our SME members and businesses across the region, who now operate under a fair 30-day payment terms schedule.
